Marina Gonzalez

About Marina

Marina González (b. 1986, Seville, Spain) is an internationally recognised artist who lives and works between the UK and Spain. Her work explores a new dialogue between abstract and classical figurative techniques used by the Old Masters, particularly those of the Renaissance and Spanish Baroque. This fusion of traditional methods with contemporary expression has become the defining characteristic of her artistic language.

She holds a Master’s degree in Fine Arts from the University of Seville, where she specialised in painting. She also received a one-year academic grant from Sint-Lukas Art University in Brussels, Belgium, to further enrich her studies. Additionally, she completed another Master’s degree in Advertising and Public Relations from the University of Cádiz.

Marina has participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions in Spain, Belgium, and the UK, and she has also published as an author. Her international recognition was solidified in 2020 when she was awarded first prize in “Isolation Mastered,” a distinguished competition organised by JD Malat Gallery in London’s Mayfair. The jury, composed of renowned figures such as art dealer and collector Simon de Pury, GQ editor Dylan Jones, and art historian David Bellingham, selected her work “Flora Waiting to Blossom” as the winning piece. This painting was later acquired by a member of the Royal Bahraini family and is now part of the RAK Art Museum Foundation, where it is exhibited alongside works by Frank Stella, Fernando Botero, Lita Cabellut, Manolo Valdés, Mark Quinn, Yves Klein, Pablo Picasso, Huguette Caland, Adam Henein, Dia Azzawi, Farhad Moshiri, Juan Genovés, Mohammed Melehi, Gulay Semercioglu, and Kenji Yoshida, among others.

Beyond this achievement, Marina’s work is held in various museums and private collections worldwide. In the RAK Art Museum Foundation, not only is “Flora Waiting to Blossom” displayed, but other pieces of hers are also part of the collection. In addition, several of her works have been acquired recently by the prestigious Minart Museum in Mexico, further solidifying her international recognition. Marina González continues to expand the boundaries of contemporary painting, establishing herself as a significant voice in the global art scene.
